Creativity

CREATIVITY

An ability to imagine something new. We are not God who can create new from nothing; we generally generate ideas or create ideas by combining, changing or reapplying the existing ideas.

An attitude, the ability to accept change and newness, willingness to play with new ideas, a habit of enjoying goods and looking for ways to improve it.

A process works hard to improve ideas and solutions by making changes in their work. A creative person always knows that there is room for improvement.

Negative attitude that blocks creativity:

·  Oh no problem

·  It can’t be done

·  I can’t do it or there’s nothing I can do

·  But I am not creative

·  That’s childish

·  I might fail

Myths about creative thinking and problem solving:

a. Every problem has only one solution

b. The best answer solution has already been found

c. Creative answers are complex technologically

d. Ideas either come or they don’t nothing will help

e. Mental block of creative thinking and problem solving

f.  Prejudice: older we get the more preconceived ideas we have about things

For example, make a ship hull that won’t rust or rot like steel or wood.

solution: use concrete

our prejudice: concrete is too heavy

                                    WHY NOT MAKE LIGHT CONCRETE

g. Functional fixation

Sometimes we began to see object only in terms of its name rather than what it can do.

For example mop can only clean floor but it can also clean ceiling car etc

                                                 h. Learned hopelessness

We are trained to depend on others if we need any information, we can use Internet go to library bookstore ask friends professors etc

 i.  Psychological blocks we reject solution simply by reaction
